One day trip to Bath

If you’re looking for the perfect destination to spend a lovely day in the county of Somerset, Bath is your answer. Fall in love with Bath is easy, a unique city combining vibrant contemporary culture with a rich history and heritage.

One day is more than sufficient to visit and of course you can then decide how much you want to stretch that by in order to spend longer in some places. you can opt for bus tour, walk round, 2 hours in the Roman Bath, lunch and an evening meal – all to fit in one day.

So if you’re wondering what you can see and do within a quick 24 hours in Bath then read some of our ideas including what you should see and where to stop for a nice cake, coffee and lunch.

The Roman Baths

This is where you can see the Ancient Roman baths after which the city is named. Have to say that I was impressed by the Architecture (I know I’m Italian, but I’ve always been fascinated by the Roman History and this is a real authentic gem in the middle of this gorgeous city).

You will have the chance of wearing Roman customes, and I took this chance without even thinking twice.

Bath Abbey

After the magical experience with the Roman Baths, we decided to head over Bath Abbey and enjoy the beauty of this place.

There is no admission charge, but donations are appreciated (Suggested donations are £4 per adult). It is open to visitors the Summer with the following times: Monday to Saturday 9 am – 6pm, Sunday 1pm – 2.30pm & 4.30pm – 5.30pm pm.

In Winter, open Monday to Saturday from 9am – 4.30pm, Sunday 1pm – 2.30pm & 4.30pm – 5.30pm.

Mokoko Coffee, 6 Abbey Churchyard, Avon

Ensure you head to Mokoko Coffee, which is literally in the same street as Bath Abbey (2 min walk). Their coffee and vegan cakes are something you need to experience, especially with the beautiful view it offers, with its outside seats.

Royal Crescent

We then head over to Royal Crescent, a row of 30 terraced houses laid out in a semi-ellipse that was built in the mid 18th century and overlooks a well manicured park. Really weird as I felt I was back in Edinburgh, the area close to St Mary’s church.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a brilliant example of the Georgian architecture that you will find throughout this part of Bath. And yes sorry for the cheeky touristic pose! 😊

Spend a couple of hours looking round the city and shops

We recommend a visit to Milsom Street. This place has lots of stores and restaurants under cover. Another historic shopping alternative is Bartlett Street. This is where you’ll find the Bartlett Street Antiques Centre, full of antique gems to discover.

Bath Street is also a good place to admire the architecture while you shop. Ah and watch out for Mr B’s Emporium of Reading Delights, worth a look if you’re a book lover – as it’s an award winning independent bookshop.

Tasty lunch at Smash Burger

To conclude our lovely day we went to Smash Burger, the classic beef burger was absolutely amazing probably one of the softest best cooked I ever had. Also liked the idea of unlimited drinks using the cup provided and using the self service machine. Maybe not somewhere really for a special dinner but definitely somewhere to grab a tasty lunch.

I really hope you liked this short experience. Both my husband and I love Bath and cannot wait to be back there, especially after these crazy times due to the pandemic.

Come scrivere un Curriculum vincente in Inglese 2020

Ciao ragazzi.

5 Books To Educate Children On Race and Diversity

I like to think and I am pretty sure that the generation to follow us are more aware and open minded. I come from a mixed race family and I am raising myself one and I am confident in saying that we have a responsibility to teach the next generation how to become anti racist especially in a system that is still (sadly) institutionally racist.
Sadly racially charged commentary and behaviours can be passed down on to the impressionable minds of children and more than ever our actions and words need to be examples on how to treat every human being equally.
Below are 5 books on anti racism for children that will make a huge difference in our lives, with price and where you can find them.

Homemade Victoria sandwich cake with chocolate ganache

Welcome back to my blog, today I want to share an easy recipe for a cake that you can prepare for birthdays or parties to surprise your loved ones. Prepare your whisks and bowl and let’s start 😊

Photo taken without filters

  • 4 free-range eggs
  • 225g/8oz caster sugar
  • 225g/8oz self-raising flour
  • 2 tbs baking powder
  • 225g/8oz butter at room temperature
  • Optional filling with apricot jam
  • Raspberries or your favorite fruits to decorate at the end

  • 200g dark chocolate (roughly chopped)
  • 300ml double cream

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C and grease and line your 20cm/8in cake tin. Rub a little piece of butter around the inside of the tin until the sides and base are lightly coated.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, break the eggs, add sugar, flour, baking powder and butter. Mix everything together until well combined using either an electric hand mixer or a wooden spoon.
  3. Poor half of the mix in the first tin and gently smooth the surface of the cakes.
  4. Bake the cakes on the middle shelf of the oven for 25 minutes. Remember to check it after 20 minutes. They’ll be ready when they start to have a nice golden colour on top. Set aside to cool in their tins for 15 minutes.
  5. To assemble the cake, place one cake upside down onto a plate and spread it with plenty of apricot jam and top with the second cake, top-side up. Before doing this. I like to “pierce” the base of my cakes with a fork and use a few spoons of lemon syrup. To prepare this just add water and lemon juice in a small sauce pan (I avoid using other sugar in this case), and bring to boil. I use this syrup to brush both sides of the cake layers.
  6. Finally for the chocolate ganache you’ll need to roughly chop your dark chocolate bar. Heat the cream to below boiling point (make sure to remove the pan as soon as it start to boil!). Pour the cream on the chocolate and stir until even. Wait until the ganache cools to room temperature before using. And then work your magic, poor your mixture on top of the cake. You can use fresh fruit to make it even prettier, like with rasperries or stawberries…

et voilà! Enjoy this delicious cake with the rest of the family or friends 😊

Oven Fried KFC chicken style

With gluten free cornflakes 🥰

Hello there. Today’s recipe is super easy, quick and deeeeeelicious. It’s an oven baked recipe that also my little girl loves.

  • 4 chicken breasts, cut into long pieces
  • 130g cornflakes (I’ve used the gluten free from Tesco)
  • 3 tbsp plain flour
  • 1 medium eggs, beaten with some milk
  • Paprika
  • Pepper
  • Salt

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C. Put the cornflakes in a food processor with three tsp of Paprika. Alternatively you can use a plastic food bag and manually crush finely the cornflakes.
Tesco gluten free cornflakes
  1. Separate the ingredients by putting the cornflakes in a bowl, the bitten eggs in a second and the flour in a third. Season the flour and mixture with milk and eggs generously with salt and pepper. Spray some olive oil on your baking tray.
  2. Firstly coat your chicken in the seasoned flour, shaking off the excess and then the mixed of milk and egg. Last, dip the chicken in the cornflakes and make sure that it’s completely covered. Place it on your tray.
  3. Bake until the chicken is crisp and golden for 20/25 minutes (Remember to turn while it’s cooking). Serve immediately and enjoy it. Tag me on instagram as @unamammainuk for your results.

p.s. you can serve this dish with a fresh salad, oven chips or mashed potato, everyone in the family is going to appreciate it 😊

Linton Zoo, Cambridgeshire

Hello there 🙂 Last week we’ve decided to go to Linton Zoo. It was such a lovely day out with our 2 years old daughter and the fact that the zoo is relatively small facilitated us to see all the animals.

There is a large variety of animals that you can see in this zoo like lions, tigers, tapirs (there is even a small cutie one as you can see in the below picture), zebras, kangaroos and many others.

It’s completely different from other zoo we’ve visited like Africa alive (which is our favorite ever) but considering the fact that this zoo was only 1 hour drive from where we live, it was totally worthy. Our little one was so happy to see all the birds and also to take pictures with the different dinosaurs and gorilla’s statues 😊

It was also particularly interesting to see my little girl faces while some birds were eating or when she saw for the first time a tiger (ps she loves tiger as it’s one of her fave character in her nighttime story) as this is part of life and she never experienced something similar.

There are also different facilities like a picnic area (weather permitting), a coffee shop (I personally like to pack all the snacks for Sophie but we previously had a lovely coffee from here), baby changing and a gift shop.

I leave you all the prices in case you would like to plan a trip to this zoo and the link for the opening times 😊

Here’s the zoo’s address: Hadstock Road, Linton, Cambridgeshire, CB21 4NT

Autumn/Winter 2019 intu Milton Keynes Blogger Event

Last week I was invited to Intu Milton Keynes to attend a breakfast Influencer event and have a look to some amazing pieces of beauty and fashion of this Autumn/Winter 2019.

I saw some lovely pieces of the new collections from Gap, New Look, Victoria’s Secret and Burton. After a chat with the retailers we were given a specific task: “Visit our fave stores and find one of the trends that we could see ourselves wearing”

Before completing the task, we were treated to a bra fitting in Victoria’s secret and I have to say that I never had a similar service in my life.

I found this free service really helpful because I realize I’m one of the 80% of women who are wearing the wrong bra size. I was offered a wide range of bras to try on and I choose one of the comfiest push-up bra. Since I’m a mum and work full time I always try to opt for something fashion and easy to wear for everyday life.

This is the one that I’ve chosen: Secret Pefect Shape Bra.

For the task I first headed to Next.

Here, I found one of the must have of the season: the Aviator jacket that still manage to rock after last year fashion…. and I cannot be more happy. Not only it looks fab, but it’s also really easy to style. I actually love both white and black version of it.

Another trends of this year is all about “Yes to Yellow“. I came face to face with some lovely yellow jewelry from a shop called “Lovisa Jewellery“. Have a look at them:

There was more yellowish/mustardy in Zara in the form of this super classy and easy to style blazer/jacket.

As you probably notice, I’m a loyal Next supporter, mainly because I like the quality of their products and the price is well proportioned. For the “Sparkle and Shine” trend I’ve picked up two lovely tops, in a pink and blue version. I love to add a bit a colour and sparkle to my outfit and I’m happy that is one of this season trends.

Surprise, surprisethe fashion world’s favourite teddy and fur coat trends are back for another season and is well and truly on its way to becoming a style staple. I think they’re an option to embellish every outfit. Let’s face it, there’s no set way to style them and they keep you sooo warm.

Last but not least, another great trend is Animal print that if used in an elegant and soft way is something extremely elegant and not trash at all, like lot of people think of it. Both pieces that I’m going to show you are faux crocodile ones and I think you cannot go wrong with them. Both backpack and little bag from Tk Maxx are practical and stylish, easy to pair with any outfit and it’s guaranteed to add that little extra to your look.

Tk Maxx

Thank you to intu Milton Keynes for such a great event and giving me lots of inspiration for my AW wardrobe😊 And thank you to all the brands such as Victoria’s Secrets, New Look and Estee Lauder for our lovely goodie bags!

NEW Vitamin-C Pixi Beauty Skintreats

I am so excited for the release of the new Pixi Skintreats collection. This time Petra decided to create 5 vitamin C products that will help to energize our skin while protecting it thanks to their ingredients.

As you can see from the pictures the 5 products of this edition are:

  1. Vitamin-C Tonic its potent antioxidant ingredients will promote healthy collagen production and it will boost your skin luminosity (£ 10.00)
  2. Vitamin-C Serum: this is one of the fave product of this range (I will mention my fave at the end). It helps to brighten your skin and boost collagen. The Ferulic Acid will protect your skin while its Probiotics will help to strengthen and act as protection from free radicals. Well, know we all know why is the most loved 😊
  3. Vitamin-C Lotion: After using a serum or essence it is recommended to use a lotion all over the neck and face, and this in particular helps to give your skin a super hydrated and glowing feeling (£ 24.00)
  4. Vitamin-C Caviar Balm: This mask absolutely got my attention because of its name “caviar balm” (I have to be honest). It is suggested to use this leave on mask 2-3 times per week, and you can opt for leaving it on until it soak in or rinse it off. It promises to promote healthy collagen production, to protect and boost the luminosity and clarity of your skin (£ 24.00)
Vitamin-C Juice Cleanser

5) Last but not least product, my favorite one: the Vitamin-C Juice Cleanser. This product is a gentle morning cleanse with a beautiful scents. A perfect mix of orange flower water, vitamin C, Ferulic and Ascorbic acid. I found the press-pump so cool and I love the fact that it allows me to pump the product directly onto the pad without wasting any products. I usually apply it over my face for daily skin cleansing, without need of rinsing it (£ 18.00)

As I always say to my friends I would recommend to insert one or two products of this range in your daily skincare to see the improvements that your skin can have.

What are you waiting, take your dose of Vitamin C and let me know what you think of Pixi Beauty ❤️🍋

TOP TIPS for dealing with baby ECZEMA and dry skin (Our experience)

Sophie and I

Hello mum, my name is Sara and our Baby Eczema experience started when Sophie, my little girl had only 3 months. Her head, back and arms were in such a poor conditions, and thinking of it right now just melts my heart. I remember putting on little scratch mitts or socks in order to avoid her scratching so deep on her skin. I have to say that my husband and I have never suffered of this condition so I wasn’t really prepared but after lots of doctors, blogs, articles and various products purchased I want to help out someone who is in our same position. I also want to clarify that there are no sponsored items, but they’re truly great tips that worked brilliant on Sophie, not only when She was a baby but also now as a toddler (She’s 21 months old and sometimes Eczema in back, YAYYY)

I feel like I won’t tell you all the stuff that you can read on different blogs, where they explain all the technical details with regard to what is Baby Eczema. First of all I want to recommend you this TRIDERM oleated bath for sensitive and intolerant skin by Bionike.

This product was recommend to us from dermatologist and it’s fantastic. It contains the allergen free fragrance and you just need to use a few drops in the bath or used directly on skin. There are also other products of this range suitable for little babies. I leave you the direct link, since I use to buy it online because sadly it’s not available in any physical market here in England. Here’s the link

Another product that I feel to recommend to you is the “Burt’s Bees Baby” nourishing baby oil.

This product has the same lovely and gentle honey smell and is the perfect after bath, I usually massage all her body with this and it’s both efficient to moisturizer and relax my little one, in fact after this massage she fall asleep. This product is available in Boots, Amazone Store and many other shops.

Unfortunately other brands like Oilatum and Aveeno were not successful in our case, like other products prescribed by our GP, and this is probably due to the fact that each child is unique and has individual likes and needs.

Now I will list some of the most relevant steps you can take for dealing with Baby and Toddler Eczema and dry skin

Keep nails short

This is extremely important to do, (perhaps when they sleep so it’s easier for you) since babies and toddlers will scratch the sore areas, thus making the situation even worse.

Use of little socks or cotton mittens

If your little one is scratching at night is fundamental to put on mittens or socks. In my case I’ve used lot of times socks because they were more difficult for her to remove.

Keep your baby cool

Sweat irritates the skin. Keeping your baby’s room at a reasonable temperature (not too hot, not too cold) and using baby sleeping bags at night time instead of putting the heating on is another tip to minimize sweating.

Avoid hot and frequent baths

I know it’s hard to think about bathing less your little one, but it seriously can help. This one was actually a tip from our GP. It was really tough because I like to see everything perfectly clean, but water, in these cases, can dry out their skin, so avoiding daily bathing is the best thing. Absolutely use warm water instead of hot. I know it’s hard to think about bathing less your little one, but it seriously can help. This one was actually a tip from our GP. It was really tough because I like to see everything perfectly clean, toddler included 🤣 Ah, last thing always remember to keep the skin moisturized.

Be careful with the washing powders

Another recommendation from our GP was to use non-bio versions for children’s clothes. We also avoid the use of fabric softener and that helped too.
